At the center of the fountain stands a pillar topped by the bust of Doctor Limón, a professor at the University of Alcalá de Henares who wrote a famous 17th-century book on hydrology: 'Crystal Mirror of the Waters of Spain', which referenced the fountains and springs of Spain, particularly the one in his hometown, Puertollano.
