COLEGIO VILLANDRANDO

This site showcases stunning modernist architecture with a unique ceramic frieze, reflecting a rich history as a former shelter and school for orphaned girls.
Modernist architecture influenced 20th-century Palencia, and in many parts of the city you'll find a mosaic of stone, brick, iron, and glass. Designed by Palencian architect Jerónimo Arroyo, the Villandrando School is a fine example of floral modernism. Its most original and striking feature is the cornice, decorated with a large ceramic frieze by Daniel Zuloaga. Originally, the building served as a shelter, home, and school for orphaned girls.
