CIUDAD REAL
ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK AND HERMITAGE OF ALARCOS
Located on a hilltop beside the Guadiana River, this site features a 13th-century hermitage with a polylobed rose window and a significant archaeological complex with Iberian and medieval remains. It was the setting of the Battle of Alarcos, one of the most important battles of the Middle Ages, where, in 1195, the Christian army of Alfonso VIII was defeated by the Almohads.
