ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK OF LA ALCUDIA

This archaeological site, rich in history from the Neolithic to the Visigothic period, features significant artifacts like the Lady of Elche and Roman ruins.
Located 2 km from Elche, this is the original settlement of the city, inhabited from the Neolithic to the Visigothic period until the 8th century AD, when it was abandoned following the Arab arrival. In 1897, the Lady of Elche, a masterpiece of Iberian art, was discovered here. During Roman times, La Alcudia was declared Colonia Iulia Ilici Augusta, with the right to mint its own coin, reflecting its administrative and economic significance.
