PAERIA PALACE

PAERIA PALACE

A municipal seat with an impressive medieval heritage, it is notable for its Romanesque and neoclassical architecture, Gothic art and archaeological finds.

Seat of the Lleida City Council and a jewel of Catalan medieval heritage. This 13th-century Romanesque civil building features a dual façade: a medieval one facing the square and a neoclassical one from 1929 facing the river. Inside, it houses the Gothic altarpiece of the Virgin of the Paers, the old prison "la Morra", and the Municipal Archive with the 1150 Charter of Settlement. Roman and medieval archaeological remains are preserved in the basement.
