IGLESIA DE SANTA CATALINA

This historic Gothic-Mudejar building, converted into a school for orphans, offers a unique cultural and architectural attraction for visitors.
San Prudencio Founded by Archbishop Tenorio as Santa Catalina, it was donated to the Hieronymites by him after the Talaveran clergy refused to take it over. It became an orphanage named San Prudencio, in memory of the founder’s son. It was mostly built in the late 14th and early 15th centuries in Gothic-Mudejar style. Juan de Herrera remodeled the exterior apse, giving it large buttresses. Recently restored in 2018.
