RUIZ DE LUNA MUSEUM

The site is noted for its impressive collection of historic ceramics, reflecting the rich artistic and cultural tradition of the region.

Former Convent of the Recollect Augustinians The Ruiz de Luna Museum occupies part of the building of the old convent of San Agustín, refounded in 1566 by San Alonso de Orozco from Oropesa, who led the reform of the Recollect Augustinians in this Talaveran monastery. This museum houses a collection of ceramics from the 16th to the 20th centuries: Mudejar-style ceramics from the mid-16th century, tricolor series, fern and swallow series, and polychrome series from the 17th century, the golden age of Talavera ceramics. It was inaugurated in 1996.
