THE CHURCH OF THE OLD

This Romanesque church features a stunning 55-meter tower and a unique blend of 13th-century and Gothic architecture, making it a must-visit for tourists.
The Church of Santa María de la Antigua, known among the people of Valladolid as 'La Antigua', boasts of being one of the jewels of Romanesque architecture in Castilla y León thanks to its slender tower over 55 meters high. It is the only element from the 13th century, along with the north portico, as the rest of the temple is Gothic, from the 14th century. Its origin is not clear to historians, although it is suggested that it could have been a parish for the use of Count Ansúrez in the 11th century.
