CATHEDRAL

This iconic, unfinished cathedral features historical ruins and was once the city's main temple, hosting significant celebrations and royal events.
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption is one of the most emblematic buildings in Valladolid, despite never being completed. King Philip II commissioned the designs from his architect, Juan de Herrera. The attached ruins are those of the old collegiate church, a medieval building from the time of Count Ansúrez. As the main temple of the city at that time, it was the scene of important celebrations and historical milestones, such as the marriage between Alfonso X 'The Wise' and Violante of Aragon.
