VILLANUEVA DE CÓRDOBA

CHURCH OF SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
This temple stands out for its unique architecture, its valuable image of the Virgin of Luna and its unique geometric wooden floor, attracting tourists.
The construction of the original church began in 1553, the same year Emperor Charles V granted the village its town title. It was completely renovated in the 18th century, when the tower and parish sacristy were added. It is dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel, patron of the town, whose feast is celebrated on September 29th. A visit to this beautiful temple is a must, as it houses the image of the Virgen de Luna, one of the most venerated figures in the town, for four months each year. The church floor is made of wood arranged in geometric strips, making it the only church in Andalusia with such a floor.
