Beneath the Plaza de España in Villanueva de Córdoba lies the best-preserved air-raid shelter in the province. This space has been restored for municipal use and to ensure this dark chapter of history is not forgotten. The shelter features a large room measuring 20 x 12 meters, with five aisles separated by arches resting on twelve granite pillars, supporting semicircular brick arches and barrel vaults. Several access points with angled tunnels were created to shield against blast waves in case a projectile fell inside.
