ALCAZABA

ALCAZABA

This stunning palace fortress, set against a mountain and near a Roman theater, showcases exquisite Nasrid architecture and a rich blend of cultures.
From the Muslim era, this palace fortress built between 1057 and 1063 is one of the most visited monuments in the city, due to its beauty and magnificent location, at the foot of Mount Gibralfaro and next to the Roman Theater. Its Nasrid architecture merges defense and aesthetics through palaces, rectangular courtyards, gardens, and ponds. Today it becomes a unique enclave to contemplate the union of Roman, Muslim, and Christian cultures.
