Climbing up to the Cerro de Santa Catalina is a must-visit in Gijón/Xixón. From here you have the best views of the city. On good days, you can see in the background the high peaks of the Sueve mountain range, the Aramo, and the Picos de Europa. At the top of the hill, on the city's 18th-century defense fortifications, stands one of Eduardo Chillida's iconic sculptures, the Elogio del Horizonte.
