THE CIDER TREE

THE CIDER TREE

This urban sculpture made of 3,200 recycled cider bottles promotes recycling and celebrates local cider, recognized as Intangible World Heritage by UNESCO.
This is the nickname given to the urban sculpture Módulo Sícera, one of the more than one hundred works of art that adorn the city. It is made up of 3,200 recycled cider bottles and was conceived with a dual purpose: to raise awareness of the need for recycling among the population and to promote this symbol of local identity, cider, declared an Intangible World Heritage by UNESCO. As the plaque at the foot of the tree reads: "This tree you see is made of cider bottles, it is not an artist's whim, nor a pleasant way to waste time. This tree is a metaphor for the tree of life, it is the visual representation of how it is possible to conserve nature's resources by reusing everyday objects."
