MARÍA CRISTINA CANAL TRAIL NETWORK

Wooded and firm paths invite you to enjoy hiking and cycle touring, connecting with nature trails and offering a unique leisure environment.
The surroundings of the city were once populated by small lagoons. At the beginning of the 19th century, the waters were drained into the Júcar River through the old María Cristina canal, built to dry the lagoons and the ancient water springs. The service roads have now been converted into tree-lined paths with compacted surfaces, serving as leisure spaces that encourage hiking, cycle tourism, or simple walks. One of these paths connects the route with the Sierra de Alcaraz Greenway.
